The 65+ acre facility was
completed and opened in 1994. Prior to that year, the majority
of all recreation activity took place in downtown Warsaw at Center
Lake Park. With the expansion of Zimmer Headquarters, Mayor
Jeff Plank took the initiative to improve Center Lake Park, which is
now called Central Park. With these improvements, Central Park
was not able to house quality athletic fields so Mayor Plank
proposed the CCAC. The CCAC would also be used as a major
source for developing economical impact, for the County.
The CCAC was funded by many local businesses from the Community,
along with assistance from the City, County, and several grants.
Today, the CCAC still relies on assistance from the City of Warsaw
and the Kosciusko County Convention Visitor & Recreation Commission.
All monies generated from the CCAC goes back into operations and
improvements. The CCAC is a not-for-profit 501 (c) 3.
In 1994 the CCAC began running sanctioned leagues and tournaments
through the National Softball Association sanctioning body.
Today the CCAC is recognized as one of the top facilities in the
Nation, hosting National Tournaments in Men's, Women's, and youth
events. The CCAC also hosts High School events for Boys and
Girls soccer and rugby.
The CCAC has also developed 2 new sand volleyball courts for Spring and Summer Co-ed Volleyball Leagues. The CCAC is also developing a few new programs for the 2008 season. Among the new programs we are developing are; Warsaw Girls Fast Pitch Softball League for ages 5-18, Flag Football, Corporate Soccer, and a Men's Wooden-Bat League. For more information regarding these programs, please contact the CCAC.
The
CCAC leases the facility to independent groups such as; KCSL Soccer,
Wave Travel Soccer, Hispanic Soccer, NISL Soccer, NIWA Wiffleball,
and many individuals and teams. All parties interested in
renting at the CCAC should contact Karl Swihart or Whitt Huffer at
the CCAC office.
The CCAC is hosting 30 Men's, Women's, and Youth baseball and softball tournaments in 2008. We still have a few Open Dates for softball/baseball diamond rental. So if you are interested in renting a ball diamond, please contact Karl Swihart or Whitt Huffer at the CCAC office.
The CCAC will host a free Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit, and Run Competition for area youth on Sunday, April 20th and Sunday, May 4th at the Complex. This competition is open to all children between 7-14 years of age, and is absolutely free. This program is an opportunity for the youth to compete, free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball skills. Competitors have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championship at Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the 2008 MLB All-Star Game. For more information regarding this competition, please contact Whitt Huffer at whitthuffer@kconline.com or 574-269-6663.
In 2008 the City-County Athletic Complex was inducted into the Indiana Youth NSA Softball
