2008
Warsaw Girl's Softball League
The Warsaw Girl's Softball League and the City-County Athletic Complex have formed a partnership in order to increase participation, build the league and offer new leagues for participants. We are very confident that this program will grow with some of the new ideas in store for the 2008 season. The WGSL has been in existence for over 35 years. By forming a partnership, the CCAC will offer full time administrative and operational responsibilities of this program, while continuing the volunteer leadership and knowledge of the WGSL Board. This program, as in the past, will offer recreational activities for all girls age 5 through 18, regardless of financial status or athletic ability. Also, by forming a partnership with the CCAC, we are able to cut cost of field rental, enabling us to offer a much lower cost to the families wanting to participate.
The City-County Athletic Complex (CCAC) and the Warsaw Girl's Softball League (WGSL) have joined forces to bring you the ultimate summer softball program that you have been waiting for. This program is instructional and recreational. Although everyone likes to win, we do not stress that it is the most important aspect of the game. We will insure development of every athlete, along with positive influence and a wonderful experience. All players will be included in play and practice. Remember, you do not have to live in Warsaw in order to be part of the league.

High School Teams/Competitive
This year, in order to reorganize the program, and make it equally competitive for all programs (except High School League), we will hold a player draft. During the draft, all players will be evaluated and evenly distributed amongst the teams. In years past, teams have become unevenly matched, making it less than enjoyable for some teams. We hope to correct that this 2008 season. Immediate family will be drafted together for transportation purposes.

The CCAC brings many years of experience, leadership and youth sports development to this program. This is a program that will help develop your child's athleticism, social skills and teach them the fundamentals of the game. You can sign your child up for the WGSL from now until March 14, 2008 at the CCAC Office from 9AM until 5PM during the week. Any registration turned in later than March 14th, is subject to a late fee.
A player evaluation will be conducted on all players entering the leagues. This evaluation will be conducted by the Director and the Advisory Committee. Coaches will be encouraged to attend, only as spectators and possibly to assist in the exercises. All players must be evaluated to be entered into the draft. Any player unable to attend the evaluation, will be evenly distributed to the teams needing players, by the Director and Advisory Committee.
Evaluations are April 26, 2008 on the West Fields
at the CCAC.
Evaluations will be separated into groups as follows;

Upon completion of the evaluation, all players will be rated. Pitchers and Catchers will be evaluated in their respective positions, along with fielding other positions and hitting. All participants are evaluated on hitting, fielding and throwing. Pitchers and Catchers will be rated as a 1-3, based on number of participants. Pitchers and Catchers will then be entered into a draw for the coaches, unless a coaches' child is a pitcher. That child will be drafted automatically by their father, eliminating one draft pick for that coach. Other players will also be rated on a scale of 1-3. Teams will be allowed to draft the equal amount of players from each rating. Again, coaches will be awarded their children, but lose draft choices based on the rating of their child. Once all players are evaluated, by the Director and the Advisory Committee, coaches will meet for a draft. The coaches children will be assigned first, then based on their rating, draft choices will be eliminated from that team. Coaches will blind draw players based on their rating.
