Rules for the Adult Recreational Wooden-Bat League

The City-County Athletic Complex is excited to start this brand new program this 2008 season.  There will be 2 seasons, a Spring and Summer League. Each season will consist of 10 games, with a double elimination tournament to conclude the season.  The team entry fee to play in the league is $500, with a $100 discount if you sign up for both the Spring and Summer leagues.  Spring league will be played on Thursday nights from May 8 until June 26.  Summer league will also be played on Thursday nights from July 10 until September 4.  All game nights are double headers, and league tourneys will be played on weeknights.

The Adult Recreational Wooden-Bat League will be a way for adults to once again play baseball at a competitive level with a guarantee of competition and actual game play.  There has been a few rule modifications to enhance the safety of the players and to adhere to time limits.  The Wooden-Bat League will follow all MLB rules, except for the following:
        - Pitchers can throw any style of pitch they want, but the pitch may not be over 75mph.
(An official with a radar gun will ensure the speed of every pitch. A pitch over 75mph will be declared a "Ball.")
        - Game length will be 7 innings, or 90 minutes.
        - Mercy rule will be in effect.
Leading off bases and stealing is permitted, as well as metal cleats for those who wish to wear them.
Major League Baseball and the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues shall govern any rule or interpretation not covered in the rules above that are available for you to view, save, and/or print.
